Emergency Medical Services offers direct patient care through a critical care air ambulance service for patients with medical, surgical and psychiatric problems requiring immediate air transport either to Nome or to Anchorage. EMS is staffed with nationally certified paramedics and flight nursing staff.

The EMS Department also trains and educates people of the region on ETT (emergency trauma technician), EMT (emergency medical technician), CPR, ACLS (advanced cardiac life support), PALS (pediatric life support), wilderness first aide, and injury prevention classes.
