In partnership with Medstar Institute in Washington, D.C., NSHC is conducting a five-year study into the Genetics of Coronary Artery Disease in Alaska Natives. The purpose of the study is to determine whether genetic factors predispose Alaska Natives to heart disease. Native Alaskans are becoming more susceptible to heart disease as their traditional lifestyle is influenced by Western habits.
