Nome, Alaska – Norton Sound Health Corporation identified a positive case on the evening of Friday, August 13, bringing the total number of active cases in the region to 132. The patient is a resident of Nome.
If you or your child attended Kindergym at the Nome Recreation Center on Wednesday, August 11 or Friday, August 13, you may have been exposed to COVID-19. NSHC has the following guidance:
- All individuals who were at Kindergym on these dates should get tested this weekend, again in three to five days, and then a third time seven days later, regardless of vaccination status.
- If you are vaccinated, you should also wear a mask in indoor public spaces for the next 14 days.
- If you are unvaccinated, you should quarantine for seven days, and wear a mask in indoor public spaces for the seven days following quarantine.
- Regardless of vaccination status, if you develop symptoms of COVID-19 in the next 14 days, including a runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever, body aches, diarrhea or new loss of taste or smell, please quarantine and get tested as soon as possible.
The Cough and Cold Clinic in Nome is available for testing seven days a week. It is located on the first floor of the hospital and is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on weekends. You can call the direct line to the Cough and Cold Clinic at (907) 443-3231.
