On November 19, Norton Sound Health Corporation identified seven positive COVID-19 cases; six patients are residents of Nome and one patient is a non-resident of the region.
Two of the cases identified are travel related; one is a resident of Nome and one was a non-resident of the region who tested in accordance with the City of Nome’s travel mandate. Two of the cases identified are close contacts of a previously identified positive case. Three of today’s seven cases are considered to be community-spread.
The State of Alaska Section of Epidemiology and Public Health Nursing have been notified of the cases and will conduct further investigation. The addition of these seven positive COVID-19 cases brings the total number of active cases in Nome to 26.
NSHC is monitoring a cluster of cases that trace back to being present at the Arctic Native Brotherhood Club (ANB) between the timeframe of November 7- November 14. NSHC advises anyone who visited ANB during these dates to make an appointment for a rapid test at the NSHC Operations Building by visiting www.picktime.com/NSHC and to quarantine for 14 days. NSHC expanded rapid testing appointments for tomorrow, Friday, November 20, 2020, to provide more access to testing for community members. Remember, if you are symptomatic, please make an appointment at the Cough and Cold Clinic by calling 907-443-3333.
