Two Nome Residents Test Positive for COVID-19
Today, January 11, two residents of Nome tested positive for COVID-19. The first patient is a close contact of a previously identified case, while the second patient’s case is considered to be travel-related. The patients are now safely isolating.
Norton Sound Health Corporation notified the State of Alaska Section of Epidemiology and Public Health Nursing of the two cases. There are currently seven active cases in Nome.
Norton Sound Health Corporation has temporarily closed appointments for first doses of COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine in Nome, due to a very limited supply of first dose Pfizer vaccine. NSHC is expecting its next shipment of first dose Pfizer vaccine this week. When this new supply arrives, appointment slots will again become available for those who qualify for a first dose. Everyone who is due for their second dose of vaccine will be assured of a second dose.
Please visit www.picktime.com/NSHC to schedule your second dose.
On Wednesday, January 13, NPS and BSSD will join into the Daily Tribal Leader Call to give school updates and to answer any questions you might have. You can call into NSHC’s Daily Tribal Leader Call every Monday-Thursday at 11 a.m. The call-in line is 1-800-315-6338; access code: 03286#.
